The trip
Rajkot is the errand run. It is the hospital appointment, the wholesale market, the wedding two districts away and, since 2023, the flight out of Hirasar. This is the shortest outstation trip we sell and the one our regulars book most often, usually the evening before they travel. The road is divided highway nearly the whole way, which is why a Rajkot day rarely feels like a journey at all.
The road we take
Straight east on the Jamnagar–Rajkot highway, through Padadhari. Google Maps calls it 90 km and about an hour and three-quarters when the traffic behaves. It is a four-lane road with dhabas on both sides for most of the run, so a halt is never far away, and Rajkot's international airport lies a further thirty kilometres or so beyond the city on the Ahmedabad side.
Good to know
- A Rajkot day almost never crosses the kilometres a day of hire includes, so the fare is the same whether you go for one meeting or spend the whole day shopping.
- Hospital appointments are the commonest reason our guests make this trip. Tell us the appointment time rather than the pickup time and the office will work backwards for you.
- The Watson Museum and the Gandhi museum each close one day a week, and not the same day — worth checking before you build a morning around them.
- For a flight from Hirasar, count on two and a half hours from your door: the airport is well past the city, not before it.
- Rajkot is also where our Ahmedabad and Statue of Unity trips take their first halt, so if you are going further east, say so and we will plan the whole day as one run.

Gandhi's Rajkot, and the rest of the city
Kaba Gandhi No Delo
The house Gandhi's father took as Diwan of Rajkot State, where the boy lived from 1881 to 1887. Open 9 to 12 and 3 to 6, and from 10 in the morning on Sundays.
Mahatma Gandhi Museum
His old Alfred High School, turned into a museum in 2018 — school records, photographs and the rooms themselves. Closed on Mondays.
Watson Museum
In Jubilee Garden, named after a British political agent, holding Saurashtra's carved stone alongside colonial curiosities. Closed on Wednesdays and on the second and fourth Saturday of the month.
Rashtriya Shala
Founded by Gandhi and working since February 1921. Khadi, ikat and patola are still woven on the premises, and the shop is the reason many of our guests come.
Iswariya Park
On the Jamnagar side of the city near Madhapar — the family picnic ground with its musical fountain, and a convenient stretch of the legs before the drive home.
Airport transfers
Rajkot International Airport, Hirasar
Rajkot's flights have used the new airport at Hirasar since it opened in July 2023, the scheduled services having moved across from the old city airport that September. It stands roughly thirty to thirty-five kilometres east of Rajkot on the Ahmedabad road, which makes it about 119 km and two and a quarter hours from Jamnagar by Google Maps' reckoning. We run the transfer both ways, and it is priced as an ordinary Rajkot day because the car returns to Jamnagar either way. Give us the flight number when you book: a delayed arrival is far easier to handle when the office knows which flight to watch.

About 90 km. Google Maps gives the drive an hour and three-quarters on the Jamnagar–Rajkot highway; we quote closer to two hours because of the loading and unloading at either end and the crawl through Rajkot itself.
Do you do Rajkot Hirasar airport pickups and drops?
Regularly. Hirasar is about 119 km from Jamnagar and takes a little over two hours, so a six o'clock flight means a three o'clock pickup. Book the evening before if you can, and send the flight number with the booking.
Can I hire a taxi to Rajkot for only a few hours?
An outstation booking runs by the day rather than by the hour: the car stays with you from pickup to drop and there is no second fare for waiting. If everything you need is inside Jamnagar, the local 8 hr / 80 km package is the cheaper answer.
